The Labor Studies and Employment Relations (LSER) Department, in the School of Management and Labor Relations, Rutgers University, is one of the top-ranked departments in the world for the study of work, workers, and the employment relationship (for an overview, see
http://smlr.rutgers.edu/labor-and-employment-relations). We are offering a unique opportunity for recent or soon-to-be completed social science or history PhDs who are interested in deepening their knowledge of our policy and practice-oriented field with the goal of expanding their academic labor market opportunities. We are particularly interested in attracting individuals from a wide range of backgrounds (racial, ethnic, cultural, socioeconomic, people with disabilities, and so forth) who will contribute to the diversity of faculty in our field but are, of course, open to all applicants. The area of scholarship is open.
This post-doctoral fellowship will enable recent PhDs in a social science or history to spend 1 to 2 years at Rutgers collaborating on research with LSER faculty, who are internationally recognized leaders in our field. The Fellow will work closely with one or more mentors from the LSER faculty to customize a collaboration plan that will best prepare that individual to successfully compete in the academic job market. It is anticipated that the Fellow will teach one 3-credit course each semester in the first year. This 12 month fellowship will start no earlier than July 1, 2014 and offer a stipend of $55,000 and includes health benefits and $5,000 in research support funds.
The application deadline is April 7, 2014. To apply please submit a vita, a brief statement of your teaching and research interests, and two letters of reference to:
