The Murphy Institute is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as the Academic Program Manager for Labor Studies programs at the Murphy Institute. This is an important and high-level position in the organization. It is an excellent opportunity for a talented person who is interested in furthering the goals of labor education and the Murphy Institute. In this job search, the Institute seeks to develop a diverse pool of applicants. The Program Manager will oversee the administration of degree and certificate programs in the fields of Labor Studies and Labor Relations. S/he will also work with Institute faculty on academic issues, including curriculum development and classroom practice. The CUNY job title is Academic Program Manager and the category is Higher Education Associate (HEA). The salary range is $55,602 – $88,418. Duties:
  • Manages all administrative aspects of the Institute’s Labor Studies Programs
  • Participates in curriculum development and other academic activities under the direction of a senior administrator and/or the Academic Director
  • Implements and monitors a comprehensive academic program development plan; makes recommendations to improve department policies and procedures
  • Assists Director and Associate Director with outcome assessment and strategic planning to further develop program offerings
  • Prepares analytical and statistical reports for management
  • Serves as resource expert regarding program policies and procedures
  • May manage professional and/or clerical staff
  • May act on behalf of Director in his/her absence
  • Performs related duties as assigned
Qualifications/Preferences:
  • Advanced degree
  • Higher Education administrative experience
  • Knowledge of the academic fields of Labor Studies and Labor Relations
  • Practical knowledge of unions and labor organizations
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Experience in program development
  • Experience with student recruitment and enrollment management
  • Ability to examine, evaluate, and re-design administrative operations and procedures; ability to develop and implement new operational procedures
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems
  • Ability to use independent judgment and maintain records containing confidential student information
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced, demanding, and complex work environment
