The department's purpose is to provide training programs designed to support the union's work at the local, regional and national level. Department staff develop quality, innovative curricula and motivate union members to take greater control of their working lives by creating a stronger, more effective union.
The department provides a wide range of training, including officer, steward, contract campaign and organizing. The department also provides training programs for union staff and leadership.

The William W. Winpinsinger Education and Technology Center is the Labor Education Center for the IAMAW. It's purpose is to meet the complete range of educational needs of IAM members and to provide an atmosphere where members can learn undisturbed by daily demands of the workplace. In addition, training is conducted at their Local Lodges by Educational Representatives assigned to regional territories. To this end the program covers a diverse range of training to ensure that IAM members, officers, and staff are prepared to serve their fellow members

The International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers Union, AFL-CIO, is a proud trade union whose roots go back to the 1890's. Our current membership stands at approximately 140,000, with 15,000 apprentices. Members of this union have worked on nearly every major construction project you can think of - The Golden Gate Bridge, The Sears Tower, The St. Louis Arch, The Oil Sands Plant Expansion in Alberta, The World Trade Center, and the World Trade Center recovery effort, to name a few.
The union provides many benefits and support for its members. These benefits include the advantage of working under a collective bargaining agreement that brings bigger paychecks, better health and retirement benefits, more secure jobs, and safe working conditions.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, ironworkers earn well above the average income for the construction trades.

The LIUNA Education Department develops skills and leadership education programs for the leadership of the Laborers International Union of North America. This includes training modules, links to union-based programs (e.g., NLC) and material development.

The TWU is dedicated to bettering the lives of working families. We work to safeguard, protect and improve working conditions and living standards of all workers and demand respect, dignity and equality for all. Our members make airplanes fly, subways run, buses drive, and casinos shine. We are 130,000 transit workers and we move America.
The TWU has four main divisions: Railroad; Gaming; Airline; Transit; and Utility, University and Service. The Union has 114 autonomous locals representing over 200,000 members and retirees in 22 states around the country. James C. Little is the current President of the TWU and has been serving in this position for the last three years. Joseph C. Gordon is the Secretary-Treasurer and Harry Lombardo is the Executive Vice President.

The USW Education and Membership Development Department provides education and information to local union activists and field staff representatives. The primary object is to develop education programs and materials for the membership which builds a foundation for the power and strength of the United Steelworkers. Every union function -- organizing, political action, collective bargaining, grievance and arbitration, safety and health -- requires knowledge and skill. The international conducts education sessions at the union’s Education Center, Linden Hall in Dawson, PA. Every USW district and division have extensive education programs including conferences, seminars, summer institutes and regional conferences.
