Assistant/Associate/Full Specialist – Low Wage Workers and Retirement Security The Institute for Research on Labor and Employment, UC Berkeley is seeking candidates for appointment to the Specialist series to support two research projects at the Center for Labor Research and Education. Low-Wage Workers and Industries: Two to three positions are available. Appointees will oversee, manage, and plan research projects on low-wage workers and industries by drawing on government datasets, academic research and industry trade data to carry out complex data analysis, conduct quantitative and qualitative applied research and write up research results. Research and summarize academic literature, policy reports, proposed regulations and legislative analyses. Assist in proposal writing. Represent the CLRE to the public and the media, making presentations to stakeholder organizations, unions, and policy makers on minimum wage and other public policies in California. Contribute to written reports and peer-reviewed articles based on CLRE research. Retirement Security: One position is available. The appointee will independently coordinate research on retirement security in California, including public policies aimed at addressing retirement security and other policy-related labor and employment issues. Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis on the state of retirement security in California. Coordinate with academic researchers on other UC campuses. Provide technical assistance with relevant research and policy briefs from research, to policy makers and stakeholders. The appointee will work with academics and stakeholders to develop the research agenda, commission papers, carry out direct research and organize convenings.
