Wanted to pass these on given discussion going on at the conference re: Right To Work messaging, referenced attachments included - All, Here is the much anticipated new messaging for So-called Right to Work based on polling. There are lots of similarities between the last message triangle and the new one, but there are some important differences. Our winning message is : So-called Right to Work is not what it seems. It's controversial, confusing and it's wrong for all workers and the middle class. Our message triangle and summary messages are: 1. Not what it seems…. CEOs are putting profits before people; it's a power grab; won't create jobs; middle class shrinks. 2. Less freedom, not more… It's misleading; making workers part-time or taking ways rights and benefits isn't about freedom; freedom is about work/life balance, being able to take care of a sick child, workplace flexibility and speaking out on the job; no on has to join a union—it's the law. 3. Less safe… Like SB 5, SCRTW is unsafe; it attacks everyday heroes, first responders, public workers; eliminates whistleblower protections; reduces construction safety standards; we need professional voices when it comes to workplace safety. You'll also notice that one of the tag lines is So-called "Right to Work": Don't Trust It! I've attached the detailed talking points sheet which is a two-pager as well as the message triangle. You are welcome to start using these now. There will be a presentation about them at the Board Meeting this weekend. Staff Reps: These Talking Points and other material will be passed out at the Urgent Member meetings that are happening all over the state through May. Please help us drive turnout to these. See OCSEA's homepage to download the flyers for each location. Next week, it's Cleveland, Toledo, and Youngstown. I've attached the flyer with all the locations on it. We will start to develop other types of materials that have our logo, now that we have the primary messaging. But I wanted to make sure you had this right away. Please let me know what else you may need or if you have any questions Sally
