UALE seeks to support and encourage emerging scholars and writers in the vibrant fields of labor education and labor studies. To that end, we offer recognition for excellence in this arena each year at the UALE annual conference.

Students, labor educators or scholars new to their fields, or emerging researchers are welcome to submit a paper to the UALE Executive Board for consideration.

Veteran labor educators and scholars: Please help us identify and encourage newer colleagues to submit papers. Actively reach out to anyone you think is a good candidate for this award including students, activist, interns, researchers and staffers. Authors do not have to be UALE members. Their paper does not have to be written specifically for this competition.

For details and how to apply, click on "Read More".

A selection committee appointed by the UALE Board will choose four best submissions and a panel will be scheduled for the 2016 UALE conference where those four papers will be presented. This will be billed as the New Generations panel. The selection committee will attend that session and choose the winner of the award based on the quality of the submitted paper as well as the presentation during the session. The winner will be honored at the closing banquet of the conference.

Please submit your paper by December 21st, 2015. Those selected will be notified by January 11th, 2016 and should plan on attending the UALE conference April 12th - 15th, 2016 in Washington, D.C. Authors chosen to present will receive free registration to the conference and some lodging subsidy. Travel will be paid by the author.
