The Academic Program Specialist/Labor Relations Certificate Programs will collaborate with our academic partner, the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations, as well as institutional partners including unions, community-based organizations and employers to build the Institute’s undergraduate and graduate certificate programs in labor relations. S/he will serve as the coordinator of these programs and will be involved in all aspects of these programs – from outreach and recruitment to advising and graduation. S/he will lead the planning and implementation of student orientations, program information sessions and other student-centered events, work with members of the joint Cornell/CUNY governance committee on course scheduling and curriculum issues, and work with institutional partners to deliver high-quality course offerings and develop initiatives that will enhance the student’s academic experience. The successful candidate will also provide direct support to potential, new and continuing students by providing outreach and pre-admission advisement, offering guidance in course selection and program requirements, and referring at-risk students to the appropriate assistive resources. The Manager of Enrollment Development will collaborate across the Institute and with outside partners to develop and implement innovative and effective student recruitment activities and strategies. S/he will coordinate all aspects of Institute-wide enrollment initiates including recommending and reviewing new student enrollment targets, working closely with the faculty and staff of the Urban Studies, Labor Studies and Worker Education programs to develop and implement program-specific recruiting and pre-admission activities, and reporting outcomes and recommending improvements. S/he will cultivate relationships with unions and employers, and liaise with the CUNY School of Professional Studies and other CUNY schools and programs, to enroll students in all Murphy Institute degree, certificate and non-credit programs. The Academic Program Manager/Workforce Development Programs will oversee all aspects of the Institute’s Workforce Development Program in all five boroughs. These programs are designed to meet both the educational needs of workers and the workforce development needs of the city and state. S/he will design, implement and oversee policies and practices as they relate to outreach, recruitment, admissions, scheduling, registration, counseling, academic support, and graduation. S/he will also be responsible for analytical and statistical reporting, assisting in outcome assessment, and engaging with senior leadership in strategic planning. The Academic Program Manager/New Initiatives will be responsible for developing new initiatives for the Institute’s Labor Studies, Urban Studies, and Worker Education programs as well as for its Center for Labor, Community and Policy Studies. S/he will develop proposals, seek funding sources, design service delivery models, develop evaluation methods, and oversee the start-up of new initiatives. S/he will work with labor unions, employers, and joint labor- management education benefit funds, foundations, and government agencies to develop new programs and initiatives. The Administrative Executive Assistant will coordinate a wide range of activities for the Institute’s Director, especially as these relate to work with legislative bodies and the Institute’s Labor Advisory Board.
