Position announcement for an opening as extension associate or assistant professor of labor education, industrial engineering focus.


This opening fills a tenure-track vacancy.


This is a full-time, twelve-month appointment and requires a Baccalaureate degree in Industrial Engineering or Technology. Applicants who possess a Baccalaureate degree will be considered for hire at the Extension Associate level, and will be expected to pursue an advanced degree to progress to Assistant Professor. Appointment as Assistant Professor on tenure track requires possession of a Masters or Doctorate degree in a field related to labor education, such as industrial relations, adult education, work organization, workforce development, human resources management, economics, sociology, or similar discipline. Candidate with exceptional qualifications can be hired with early tenure consideration and earning of tenure within the first year of hire.


Responsibilities: Teach non-credit, adult education classes to workers, union members and labor-management committees, and related audiences. Plan and coordinate labor education programs. Select and develop teaching materials. Develop, market, and promote new labor education programs. Contribute to the department’s program revenue requirements. Conduct, publish and disseminate applied research. Provide technical assistance and facilitation services to workers, unions and labor-management committees. Participate in faculty governance, and assist with administrative functions of the department. Considerable travel, including overnight stays, is required.
