The University of Maine is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Director, Bureau of Labor Education. This is a full-time, fiscal-year position located on the University of Maine campus in Orono. Responsibilities and Duties: • Directing and evaluating research on labor related topics to support BLE research and instructional functions; directing and participating in the development of labor education materials, projects, presentations, programs, courses and publications; representing the University through presentations to State legislators, governmental agencies, labor organizations, community groups, the media, trade associations and the general public. • Working with the University of Maine’s DLL Curriculum Committee, including the planning and administration of the interdisciplinary Labor Studies program. • Designing and administering an organizational structure to attain BLE objectives effectively, including staff management, budgeting, strategic planning, training and development, and performance appraisals. • Seeking project grant funding opportunities, as well as directing grant-funded expenditures and activities. • Performing other reasonably related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: A Masters Degree in the social sciences, labor relations, or a related discipline is required, with substantial experience in labor education or a related field.
