Two openings in the AFSCME Education Department

We have one Field Education Coordinator position open in the Midwest, likely to be based in Columbus, Ohio or Indianapolis, Indiana. We also have a position open on the East Coast to be based in New York City or Albany NY. The AFSCME Education Department ignites and fuels activism and leadership by creating a culture of collaborative learning; developing members, leaders and staff as educators and change agents; and using new technologies to expand the reach of our programs. The Field Education Coordinator (FEC) is responsible for implementing this mission in assigned states. The FEC plans, designs, coordinates, and conducts education and training programs; develops program content; develops and/or orders materials. FECs work with affiliate and national union leaders and staff to develop education plans and prepare affiliate activists and staff to conduct training programs. Qualified candidates have 5-7 years of experience as union organizers or staff representatives and a passion for worker education. We design and facilitate education programs using popular education theory and methodology.
