U.S. Labor Delegation to Vietnam 2016: Building Solidarity and Friendship
Workday Minnesota
In January 2016, a 13 member labor delegation visited Vietnam to help build a lasting relationship between Vietnamese and U.S. unions and labor educators. The group visited with the Vietnamese General Confederation of Labor, two labor universities, the Vietnam Women's Academy, factories and local unions. The group connected with four U.S. labor educators who have been teaching labor relations in Vietnam through an exchange arranged by delegation leader, Kent Wong, Director of the UCLA Labor Center. The delegation participated in the first ever joint U.S./Vietnamese seminar and dialog on trade and the TPP at Ton Duc Thang University in Ho Chi Minh City. More exchanges and trips are planned.

Digital Storytelling
At the 2013 UALE conference in Toronto a group of Labour Educators from the U.S. and Canada participated in a Digital Storytelling workshop. People were asked to come prepared with a story about a moment in their educational practice that had changed the way they looked at their work.
Then, over two intensive days facilitated by Don Bouzek and Monica Gutierrez, participants shared their stories with each other and learned ways to turn them into a simple audio-visual presentation. These digital stories were shown at various points throughout the conference.
We offer them on-line as a glimpse at the variety of experiences in Labour Education. These stories are first steps toward a collective work that has yet to be constructed. They are personal but not unique. Use them for a class, a study group, a discussion or as inspiration for your own stories. The next steps are up to you.

Tax the Rich: An Animated Fairy Tale
Tax the rich: An animated fairy tale, is narrated by Ed Asner, with animation by Mike Konopacki. Written and directed by Fred Glass for the California Federation of Teachers. An 8 minute video about how we arrived at this moment of poorly funded public services and widening economic inequality. Things go downhill in a happy and prosperous land after the rich decide they don't want to pay taxes anymore. They tell the people that there is no alternative, but the people aren't so sure. This land bears a startling resemblance to our land. When the video was launched it sparked a furious denunciation by the right wing. © 2012 California Federation of Teachers
